The Main Street Philharmonic is a 12-piece brass and percussion band that plays 20-minute sets on Main Street, U.S.A. and in Storybook Circus over in Fantasyland. The repertoire runs to old-school marches, big band numbers, and ragtime, with "76 Trombones," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" turning up alongside brass arrangements of Disney film music. The players, in brightly colored uniforms, work the crowd between numbers and take requests from whoever is standing closest. When the set ends, they usually march off to the "Mickey Mouse Club March."

Nothing about this needs planning. Street entertainment uses no Lightning Lane Multi Pass and no virtual queue, so you walk up, watch, and carry on. Families with small kids get the most out of it, since the band is loud, funny, and happy to be interrupted. The people who walk away unhappy are usually standing in the afternoon sun on open pavement with no shade and no seat, or holding a toddler who does not love twelve brass instruments at close range.   • The crowd blocks the walkway
    Spectators fill the sidewalk and spill toward the street, which turns Main Street into a bottleneck for anyone pushing a stroller toward the castle.

    Disney lists the set times as subject to change, and they shift with season and park hours. The schedule you looked up last week is not the schedule on your day.

    Set times show up on this page, in the My Disney Experience app, and in the paper Times Guide at the park, and Disney flags them as subject to change. Look on the day rather than before the trip.
  • Get your request in before they march off
    The band takes requests up until the exit, not after it. Move up between numbers instead of waiting for the last one.
  • Storybook Circus is the calmer spot
    The band plays Storybook Circus in Fantasyland as well as Main Street. The Fantasyland sets draw a smaller crowd and leave room to park a stroller.
  • Stay through the exit
    A set runs 20 minutes and usually closes with the "Mickey Mouse Club March" as the band forms up and marches away. Leaving on the last number means missing the ending.
  • Skip the Lightning Lane math here
    This takes no Multi Pass selection and no virtual queue slot, so spend those on Peter Pan's Flight or Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Arriving a few minutes early covers it.
  • Put short kids at the curb
    Sightlines close up once two rows form on the sidewalk. Curb position is the difference between a small child watching a band and watching the backs of legs.
