Meet Figment Inside ImageWorks
Meet Figment Inside ImageWorks: show at EPCOT, Walt Disney World — showtimes, live status, and planning data on MouseHub.
The MouseHub take
Figment meets guests at ImageWorks, the play space you walk into after Journey Into Imagination With Figment at EPCOT's Imagination! pavilion. Disney gives the greeting a premise: the little purple dragon has stepped outside the Sensory Labs to find inspiration while meeting friends. The greeting itself is short and warm. Figment hugs, poses for photos, and hands over a pre-printed autograph card rather than signing a book. Cast members send in one party at a time, so a line that looks like five families deep takes longer than you would guess.
The wait is indoors, which is worth something on an EPCOT afternoon, and it is longest in the morning before thinning out later in the day. It also happens in the middle of the pavilion's play area, so kids run past you, the games chirp, and the soundtrack keeps circling back to the same tune. Figment steps away between sets, and the line stops until he is back. Longtime EPCOT fans and small kids come away happiest. Anyone working through a headliner list on a single park day will feel the time go.
At a glance
- Best for
- Families with young kids, and adults who grew up with Figment and want a few minutes with him.
- Skip if
- You have one day at EPCOT, a list of rides to get through, and no particular attachment to the dragon.
- Ride type
- Indoor character meet and greet
- Intensity
- Gentle. No ride vehicles, no motion, no darkness, though the room is bright and loud throughout.
The good
- The whole wait happens indoorsThe line sits inside the pavilion with the air conditioning running, which makes it one of the easier stops to add to a hot World Celebration afternoon.
- Figment hugs like he means itVisitors keep coming back to how warm the greeting is. The performer plays to little kids and to adults who have loved the character for decades.
- You leave with an autograph cardFigment does not sign books. Cast members hand out a pre-printed souvenir card at the end instead, so bring something else for autograph hunters.
- The setup ties into the ride's storyDisney frames the meet as Figment stepping outside the Sensory Labs to find inspiration while meeting friends, so it reads as part of the pavilion rather than a backdrop parked in a corner.
- Figment started hosting here in 1983Figment hosted the original Journey Into Imagination alongside Dreamfinder from 1983 to 1998, then came back in 2002 with the ride that runs today. That history is most of why the line exists.
The bad
- The line crawls, one party at a timeNobody doubles up with Figment, so each family gets the full greeting and everyone behind them waits it out. A short-looking line is not a short wait.
- The song comes around again and againThe pavilion soundtrack loops the whole time you are standing there. Visitors who wait a while mention it more than anything else.
- The line has no room of its ownIt runs through the same space as the interactive games, so waiting families and playing kids end up mixed together and it is not always clear where the line ends.
- Figment takes breaks, and the line stopsHe meets in sets with gaps between them. Arriving near the end of one adds the whole break to your wait.
- The room stays loudBetween the games, the music, and the kids, there is no quiet corner in ImageWorks. It wears on some visitors well before they reach the front.
Veteran tips
- Check today's times before you walk overFigment meets in scheduled sets, not all day. The showtimes on this page and in the My Disney Experience app both list the current day's blocks.
- Come back in the late afternoonMornings draw the longest line here. Later in the day the wait tends to settle down, and the pavilion is a reasonable place to be when the heat peaks.
- Ask for the autograph card at the endCast members hand them out as you finish, but it is easy to walk off without one when you are chasing a toddler. Ask before you leave the set.
- A PhotoPass photographer works this setDisney lists the meet among its character photography locations, so you get a proper shot without handing your phone to the family behind you. Have your band or ticket scanned before you walk off and the photos attach to your account.
- Wheelchairs and ECVs roll straight upDisney lists this one as may remain in wheelchair or ECV, so there is no transfer and no reason to leave a mobility device behind.
- Spend the Lightning Lane on the ride insteadThe meet is standby only. Journey Into Imagination With Figment sits in EPCOT's second Multi Pass group, so a pass covers the ride and you walk out into ImageWorks afterward.
- Let the kids play in the What If LabsThe same room holds the sensory games, from the stepping tones to designing your own dragon. One adult can hold the spot in line while the rest of the party works through them.
- Bring ear protection for noise-sensitive kidsThis is one of the louder indoor spaces at EPCOT, and the wait is long enough to matter. Pack the headphones if that is a problem in your party.
