Princess Fairytale Hall opened on September 12, 2013 in Fantasyland's Castle Courtyard, in the building Snow White's Scary Adventures used to fill. Two standby lines run out of it, and this one ends with Princess Tiana and a second princess Disney does not name ahead of time. The wait is indoors the whole way, past stained-glass windows carrying images from Cinderella and through the room Disney calls the Royal Gallery. At the end, a cast member walks your party into a wood-paneled chamber where both princesses are waiting. Tiana goes first, the visiting princess second, and you come out the far side with autographs and photos from both.

It earns a slot in a Fantasyland morning for families with small children, mostly because one wait buys two characters instead of sending parents across the park twice. The people who leave annoyed are the ones who queued at midday, when the line barely moves and the payoff is a few minutes in the room. Anyone still working through Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain should spend that hour there instead.

The good

  • One line gets you two princesses
    Tiana greets your party first, then you step across the room to the visiting princess. One wait, two sets of photos, and two signatures in the autograph book.
  • The air conditioning does half the work
    The line runs indoors from the door to the greeting room, which turns a Fantasyland afternoon into a cool stretch of standing. Families with small kids notice that before they notice the theming.
  • Nobody rushes you through the room
    Kids get to show off their dresses, ask questions, and hear Tiana talk about the restaurant she spent a whole movie working toward. That pace is also why the line outside moves the way it does.
  • Stained glass from Cinderella lines the walk in
    Past the castle-like entrance, the windows carry images from Cinderella and open into the Royal Gallery. The chambers at the end are paneled in dark wood, which photographs better than most greeting spaces in the park.
  • Wheelchair and ECV users stay in their chairs
    Disney's page lists this as an experience you can do without transferring, queue and greeting room both. Nobody in your party waits outside with the chair.

The bad

  • The line crawls by design
    Both princesses give each family real time, so standby moves in short bursts and then stops. Posted waits climb through the middle of the day.
  • Disney does not name the second princess
    The listing says a visiting princess and leaves it there, with no published rotation. Whoever your kid is hoping for may not be in the room.
  • The official photos are the weak part
    Framing and lighting come up again and again in what visitors say about the pictures from this room. Groups get the worst of it.
  • Cinderella is a separate line
    Princess Fairytale Hall splits into two standby queues out of the same building. If your party wants Cinderella as well, you exit and get in line again.

Veteran tips

  • Go in the first hour the park is open
    Standby is shortest at rope drop, before the castle crowd spreads into Fantasyland. Check the day's opening time in My Disney Experience, since it moves by season.
  • Ask at the door who is visiting today
    The cast member at the entrance knows which princess is in the room with Tiana. Worth thirty seconds if your child has one in mind.
  • Take the wait at the hottest hour
    If rope drop got away from you, spend the wait in the early afternoon rather than the evening. The line is indoors and cooled, which the outdoor queues nearby are not.
  • Fireworks time empties the queue
    Standby drops once the crowd packs Main Street for the nighttime show. You trade a viewing spot for it, so it works best on a night you have already seen the fireworks.
  • Open the autograph book before you go in
    Turn to a blank page and uncap the pen while you are still in line. A fat marker is easier for a gloved hand than a slim one.
  • Hand a phone to a second adult
    Have someone in your party shooting alongside the official photos. Those are the pictures visitors most often wish they had backed up.
  • Pair it with Peter Pan's Flight
    Both sit in Fantasyland a short walk from the Hall, as does Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Grouping them into one block keeps you from crossing the park twice.
