Walt Disney's 1963 original at Disneyland introduced the four host birds, Jose, Michael, Pierre, and Fritz, the Sherman Brothers calypso that gave the show its name, and the animatronic technology that later carried Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. Magic Kingdom's version opened October 1, 1971, as Tropical Serenade.

Most people use it the way it works best, as a cool, seated break when the afternoon heat peaks. There is no height requirement, so the whole party walks in together, and the standby line clears in show cycles rather than crawling.
