The MouseHub take

Block & Hans is a walk-up beer window at the American Adventure pavilion in EPCOT's World Showcase. Six drinks fill the board, and the menu names where each one comes from: a bourbon barrel ale out of Lexington, a hazy IPA from Chico, a pilsner brewed in Orlando. Food runs to one item, Pretzel Nuggets with House-made Beer-Cheese Sauce at $8.79. Drinks land between $12.50 and $14.00, which is the figure most visitors react to, though plenty say the pour justifies it. You order at the window and drink standing up or at the picnic tables, none of which have umbrellas.

It works best as a stop on the way somewhere else. Craft beer drinkers touring World Showcase get a short line, a list that rotates between visits, and something brewed in a state they can name. Anyone actually hungry walks on to Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the same pavilion. Disney Dining Plan meals are not accepted here, so every round is a separate charge.

The good

  • The line moves faster than it looks
Visitors report short waits here even when the promenade outside is packed. Cast members tend to have the drink poured by the time the payment clears.
  • Every pour names its hometown
The board lists a city and state beside each drink, from Lexington, Kentucky to Chico, California. It gives a quick beer a bit of geography behind it.
  • Florida gets its own tap
Orange Blossom Brewing Orange Blossom Pilsner is brewed in Orlando and runs $13.00. It is the closest thing on the board to a local beer.
  • The snack matches the drinks
Pretzel Nuggets with House-made Beer-Cheese Sauce cost $8.79, and the sauce is built on beer. That is more thought than a kiosk snack usually gets.
  • Non-beer drinkers have real options
Ciderboys Strawberry Magic Hard Cider is $14.00 and Owl's Brew Black Tea & Pineapple Hard Tea is $13.50. Both sit on the same short board as the ales.
  • The taps change between visits
Return visitors report finding drinks on the board that were not there last trip. Worth a look even if the last stop disappointed.

The bad

  • The prices land hard
Drinks run $12.50 to $14.00 at a window with no seating of its own. Visitors say the cost is the thing they remember about the stop.
  • The food is one item
Pretzel nuggets are the whole menu besides drinks. Anyone hungry ends up at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the same pavilion, where lunch and dinner run $14.99 and under per adult.
  • Dining plan meals are not accepted
Disney's page lists this location as not accepting Dining Plan meals, so a round here is a separate charge on top of whatever the plan covers.
  • The line sits out in the open
Nothing covers the ordering area. A summer downpour sends the whole line looking for a doorway.
  • The tables have no umbrellas
The picnic tables nearby sit in full sun. Visitors skip them on hot afternoons and drink standing in whatever shade they can find.

Veteran tips

  • Take your drink into the rotunda
The American Adventure pavilion is air conditioned and a short walk away, and the Voices of Liberty sing in its rotunda. Better than standing on the promenade with a warming beer.
  • Order the cider if beer is not your thing
Ciderboys Strawberry Magic Hard Cider is the sweet option at $14.00. Owl's Brew Black Tea & Pineapple Hard Tea is the lighter one at $13.50.
  • Walk to Regal Eagle for an actual meal
Regal Eagle Smokehouse sits in the same pavilion and serves barbecue at $14.99 and under per adult. Eat there first, then come back for the beer.
  • Read the board before you get in line
The list is short and it rotates, so the beer you came for may not be pouring. Check it from the promenade rather than at the window.
  • Time a round with a festival concert
America Gardens Theatre at the American Adventure hosts Eat to the Beat during the Food and Wine Festival and Garden Rocks during Flower and Garden. Grab a drink before a set.
  • Check what the water costs
DASANI Bottled Water is $4.25 at this window. A group stopping for one beer and three waters spends more than it expects to.
